The shop worktable at the end of a night last week. In this pile of metal are a super-sized Apocalax that we’ve been working on, an Urban Bone Machete Mark II in the early stages, and a whole mess of smaller experimental designs that Joey has been messing with.

A brand-spanking Urban Bone Machete, Mark II enters the final production stages. It has just gotten its final hand-sanding. Next stop - the acid bath.

Max drops a blade into a trough of oil after heating the blade in a coal-fire to over 1400 degrees. This process hardens the blade. Once the blade cools, it’s put into an oven and slowly heated again (to a much lower temperature) to “temper” the blade, which returns some of its flexbility.
Posted by Zombie Tools on Dec 27 2008It probably comes as no surprise that the Zombie Tools crew has its shop-smocks in a wad over the upcoming film adaptation of Max Brook’s World War Z. Both of Brook’s books, The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z have been fuel for our project and source matieral for some of our coolest nightmare’s.
Last week MTV scored an interview with writer J. Michael Straczynski who has been working on the script. The interview didn’t unveiled many new specifics, but did give a feel for the general approach of the production team. The screenplay focusses on the fictional author of World War Z as the unifying thread that binds together many of the book’s best narratives. From Straczynski’s comments, it’s apparent that the screenplay develops the story of the book’s author more fully than in the book.
“We follow this guy all over the world as he goes on these interviews, and he has his own personal story as well. You’re cutting between the past and the present, how he got to this point.”
“Some of it is crazy in scale. It’s huge. It’s as political as the book was. And it ends with that book being completed.”
Sounds fucking tight. May tightness be heaped upon the heads of Brad Pitt’s Plan B production team as they start serious production work on the film early in the new year.
In November it was announced that Marc Forster would direct the film, best known for The Kite Runner, Finding Neverland, and most recently Quantum of Solace.
So, looks like its time for the ZT development team to get to work on our version of the “lobo,” the spade/weapon manufactured by the millions to take back North America from the shambling hordes.
Sure would be cool for ZT to pruduce the lobo props for the film. Just putting that out there…..

It’s been a while since we’ve posted any news, and it’s not because we haven’t had any. On the contrary…..
In October, Zombie Tools, in our guise as the Tainted Saints, produced our second annual Halloween Horror Show at the Badlander Bar in downtown Missoula. The theme this year: “Zombarella vs. the Moon Zombies” in which we presented a speculative zombie apocalypse scenario wherein the Global Illuminati attempt to infect the globe with a zombie virus by catapulting zombies to the earth from a secret moonbase. Zombie Tools counters this threat with “Project Zombarella” wherein we manufacture half-zombie/half-human (and all hot!) zombie-killing women warriors with only two desires: to kill and to fuck. Conflict ensues….
What? It could happen!
True to form, the show nearly killed a couple of us, like any good horror show should. If you want to check out some photos from the production, you can see some here. We also got some local press for the show. You can read that here.
Since the horror show, we’ve been working double-time at the shop to design new blades and totally overhaul our production process for increased efficiency and tightness in order to keep up with exploding demand. Our first batch of blades out of this new process should be wrapped up within the week (and, yes, they are tight), and we’ll be sending out a notification to our mailing list (sign up here) about blade availability. We’ll also have some new blade designs to show shortly.
Finally, there’s one apocalypse survival tool that gets little mention in survival discussions—reproduction. In order for humanity to recover from a zombie apocalypse, we’re going to need to make some babies. And Zombie Tools is doing its part here, as several of our members have been wielding their tools with devastating power and accuracy. ZT Joey is expecting a young zombie slayer any day now, and ZT West is expecting the first of his litter in May. Looks like the next new product in our apparel line will be a Zombie Tools combat baby-sling.
Happy Holidays, Zombie Killers.
Posted by Zombie Tools on Dec 12 2008The Zombie Tools virus is spreading around the globe. As you can see on this Google map, we’ve infected 21 states and 9 countries with our gear and merch so far. Our goal, of course, is to inoculate the entire damn planet against a major zombie outbreak. Will humanity demonstrate the necessary foresight? We can only hope….
Thanks to everyone who has supported Zombie Tools. Keep it tight!
