New Prototypes: Scarab Shield and UBM Mark III
Here’s a little sneak peak at Zombie Tools’ spring fashion lineup.
On the left arm we have our first piece of offensive armor, project name Scarab. The Scarab is a hefty slab of plate steel with hand grip and forearm strap. The scarab will not only protect against the most ferocious of zombie bites, but with a little effort, will go a long way toward caving in Zack’s face. As if that weren’t tight enough, we’ve bolted on two blades of sharpened carbon steel should you feel the need to enter the mind of the zombie through the eye sockets.
We’ll be tweaking the prototype before we go into production on the Scarab, adding some inside padding and altering the shape slightly to provide the fullest range combat motion. We should have a production model together in late April.
In the right hand we have the latest evolution of our Urban Bone Machete. We’ve changed the blade shape slightly (and will tweak it again for the production model), but most of the improvements are in the handle, which offers better hand-protection (in response to lots of net feedback - thanks!) and improved grip ergonomics. We could have a production version ready inside of two weeks.

I like the move towards a hand guard for the machete. Any chance of a full one? Also, what would the harness be like inside the shield, and what are the dimensions of it? It seems kinda narrow, but the length looks like it would stay functional. AWESOME products. Keep up the kickass work!
How much will they both cost together so I can know when to stop saving up. Thanks!
you guys should make some sort of pole axe or glaive that way when the zombie Apocalypse does come people wouldn't have to get in so close to the zombie to kill it.
It's be badass to have a sheath/scabbard built into the shield for the machete.

i really dig the shield guys! i made one very similar to that out of wood and two U-bolts with a length of rebar for the spike. i like it alot. how much for the shield?

thegrinninfin -- we've had an ongoing debate about whether the hand-guard should be full or partial. the current tweaked design makes the hand guard longer, but not entirely closed. as for the shield harness, for the prototype we used a nice old leather belt. for the production model, it will probably be a sturdy nylon strap.
Relaw Ecra, Scotsman -- we won't be able to price the shield until we know exactly how much the production version will cost to make. stay tuned.
godsent1 -- we agree. we've drawn several halbard/pole-axe type things on the shop sketch pad. some day....
Ben -- we're looking into embroidered ZT patches.
I'm just throwing it out there, but when swinging blades at zombies we must be careful of their infected blood, so I was thinking helmet or protective mouth and eye guard. Maybe with spikes on the front for head bunting. I know it sounds ninja and you guys are a little more pirate, but we can never be too ready for the soon coming zombie up rise. Thanks for the great work!
I like the new handle design but I miss the arc on the mark 2. PLEASE KEEP THE MARK 2 ARC

Foster has a great idea, but it would be really cool if the scarab could attach the sheath for any of the machete marks. Can't wait for the production.

I wanna see a Dr. Doom style mask, something with some good glass over the eyes to keep Zed gunk from fucking with my vision, and maybe a grated plate over the mouth.
Dr. Doom would be cool, but the predator helmet-mask is more practical with full head, face, eye, and mouth protection.

The shield works fine on the right arm a few of us happen to be south paws also
