New Video: Destroying the Deuce
What kind of punishment can the Deuce take? A few weeks ago we put the blade through a series of torture tests with the goal of breaking the thing. We cut phonebooks, a wood pallet, a hockey table, a truck hood, a bike frame, some cinder blocks, and then did a number of bend tests. The Deuce finally met its end on a reinforced concrete highway divider. This video contains some of the best clips from the tests.

I'd love to see you guys put out a warhammer of some sort, you know, one with a bigass head smashing head on the front and kickass zombie spike on the back. Or a flanged mace, I'd love to see the kind of mayhem you'd come up with for either of those designs. Looking to buy a Deuce soon, thanks to this article. (or a hammer or mace) heh

I dunno Mike, the Tooth is more of a butcher knife. I was thinking something I could carry as a functional boot knife; a long slender blade. Plus imagine punching with that, blade down. in one swipe you dislocate the jaw then detach it with the blade.

If you want to cut wood, get an axe. Swords arent built for chopping wood, just flesh and bone. Walnut is a hardwood, I am not surprised your sword broke. The forward weight of the rest of the blade causes a lot of stress on the blade, in all the wrong ways. Get an Estwing hatchet and be done with it.

What are your thoughts on bayonets? Me and a buddy went gun hunting at pawn shops the other day and he made a good point in favor of spikes over blades (puncture not slice). I did have to say though, I think a full length Mossberg with a bayonet and that funky "chainsaw" grip would make a decent polearm if you ran out of shells. What do ya'll think?

I'm taking the Vakra with me to Afghanistan. Do I plan on being able to do much with it? @Eric: By simple physics, when you pit two equally hard objects against each other, both will damage. So no matter how good quality of a weapon, hitting them against each other will damage them both. When facing another deuce, the more skilled person will win. You should block an opponents attack with the spine of a bladed weapon, or avoid parrying at all (dodge instead).
So the reason why weapons are pitted against inferior metals is because going against an equally hard metal gives a 100% guarantee that both will be damaged.
